Underground, Aruba

Underground Aruba is a place to find hot rods, clothes, and other “kustom kulture” items. The storefront is located on L.G. Smith Blvd, on the access road and you can’t miss it. Here’s one of the hot rods.

ucaraIn this land of tiny imported cars, hotrods and low riders like the one above really stand out. Here’s another one.

ucarcThe price of gas may be high, but why not take a cruise like it’s 1957 again? You might enjoy yourself. And dig the custom art found on the door of one of the cars.

ucardClassy with the dice, the pin-up girl, and the martini glass all in one. They sell clothing and accessories in this store, including the Hardy line and so forth, which might be right up your alley. Here the sign so you won’t miss the place.

ucarbJust be careful behind the wheel during your island stay.

Bon dia from Aruba.

Renaissance Mall, Aruba (video)

Keeping with the theme of shopping in Aruba, here is a video of the Renaissance Mall located in Oranjestaad. It is just a few steps from the cruise ship terminal as well as much of the main shopping area in town. Mostly high end stores, a few good restaurants, and a nice place to get out of the sun from time to time.

With all this shopping, it’s a wonder anyone gets to the beach on this island!

Paseo Herencia Mall, Aruba (video)

The Paseo Herencia shopping mall is located near the high rise hotels in Aruba. This video shows some of the shops and restaurants that are located there. There are a few more but you get the idea. Take a view.

There are many more shops and carts selling jewelry, T-shirts, and other small items along the promenade leading to the mall. So, take your time and find exactly what you want. Bon dia!

Luxe Shopping, Aruba

Relatives of mine love cruising and go on at least one cruise a year. One of the things they like to do is shop for jewelry and local items, as well as high end goods that may be better priced than they would find in the United States. Well, in Aruba, you have plenty of options just beyond the port where your ship docks. You’ll pass through the gate and walk down this street, headed roughly south, southeast.

Seems rather nondescript, but as you move along you’ll pass a number of jewelry stores, the Mont Blanc store, and a well-stocked cigar shop (yes, with Cubans). Then you’ll come to this area.

Here are several high-end watch sellers, including Gandelman and Little Switzerland. There’s also a few options for food and drinks upstairs including the Mambo Jambo Club. Here’s another view from the opposite side.

Tommy Hilfiger has a place on the corner there. Just down another half block you’ll come to the Seaport Casino and Mall. This is all luxury goods. Here are just a few photos for those who want proof.

It goes on to include Cartier, Bulgari, Ferragamo and so on.

There’s also the BCBG store for the ladies and a few decent shops for men’s clothes.

So, if you like to spend your money on this type of shopping, you came to the right place. Just in case you have some room on the credit card limit, you’ll pass this store on the way back to the ship or your car.

Just don’t let the tax man know what you’ve been up to.
